Rebecca was born and lived in Gadsden Alabama, where she married and raised three children with her husband Mike. Studying Physical Therapy at the  University of Alabama in Birmingham, graduating Magna cum laude, began her work in the medical field.

After a long career in healthcare, she retired and moved to Nashville Tennessee, where her children had migrated for careers  in the music business and starting their families. This evolved into a creation of eleven grandchildren, which  has been a joy in helping raise. At the age of sixty eight, Rebecca was encouraged by her brother Kelly Harwood, artist and owner of gallery 202 in Franklin, TN , to resume making her mixed media collage artwork.
